You are looking for a beautiful piece of jewellery that will be the finishing touch to an outfit , and you have seen a piece worn by a friend that could be perfect, but when you try it on, it doesn’t seem quite right ?
The same piece of jewellery can look completely different on two people.
There are many reasons that jewellery appears to suit one person more than another, but one of the biggest factors is skin tone. Certain metals and gemstones look better against different skin tones.
The “rules” or guidelines are :-
• Yellow and rose gold, copper and brass jewellery looks better on warmer skin tones and pairs well with earthy stones in brown, green, orange, yellow and turquoise.
• Light or white metals such as white gold, platinum and silver complement cooler skin tones and pair well with vibrant stones in pink, purple, deep blue and red.
• If you have a neutral skin tone, you’ll look good in both white metals and yellow metals.
But rules are there to be broken, especially when it comes to jewellery, If you have a cool skin tone, but love rose gold, then there’s no reason you shouldn’t wear it – especially as most people’s skin tone falls between warm and cool.
If you like something and it makes you feel good, don’t be afraid to wear it – after all you are the best judge of styles that suit you.
