This is our 7th and most successful year running this event. We will be holding the event again next year.
This is the 7th year Terry Pierce and I have been running the James Ross Jewellers charity golf day. I have just taken up golf myself having lessons at West Hove Golf club so this was my first year actually playing in the event. It was also my first time ever playing on a proper 18 hole golf course! So as you can imagine I was a tad nervous.
I got to the golf course very early and help set up the room for the 24 teams playing, also staking out my banners on a couple of the holes. I then went to the driving range with one of my teammates for a warm up. After the coffee and bacon rolls, it was time to tee off.
We had a shotgun start at midday and my team tee’d off from the 14th tee, right in front of the clubhouse! The nerves we kicking in and I put my tee shot into the rough! I didn’t feel too bad as my 3 teammates all put theirs there too. As the round went on I hit a few decent shots and scored points for my team which felt good. We all had a great laugh and I can’t wait until my next round.
All the teams were finished by 5.30pm and it was time for a few beers. We then had a lovely meal and did the presentations followed by a charity auction.
It was a really successful day/evening raising more money than we have ever done before. The day and evening ran really well with Laurence Elphick from Platinum Publishing as our master of ceremonies, hats off to you sir!
Nick Ford the photographer (Nick Ford Photography) did a fantastic job whizzing around the course on a golf buggy taking photos of all the players during the day, and an excellent job in the evening.
I’d like to thank everyone who took part in the day and hope they enjoyed it.
Special thanks go out to our sponsors Preston Insurance Brokers, Ticas Portslade, SafeC, Finance Planning, and Steve Rooke Electrical.
I can’t wait until next year!
