Valentine’s Day is a great time of year for us at James Ross Jewellers. People buy their loved ones lots of lovely jewellery or watches and it’s a very common time for people to get engaged. We’re always thrilled to help people make a romantic gesture like proposing with their perfect engagement ring but, being hopeless romantics, we’d like to help you create a unique romantic moment with some suggestions for interesting things to do for Valentine’s Day.
Romance on High at the i360
Having a romantic meal isn’t exactly an original idea for Valentine’s Day but having one 380 foot in the air makes it a bit different. The British Airways i360 is offering the chance to have your Valentine’s Day meal high above Brighton in its pod this year. What a great proposing opportunity that would be!
Have a Giggle at the Komedia
Who said romance had to be serious? With the Valentine’s special at the Komedia comedy club, you and your date can laugh the night away. There are food and drink deals to really make a night of it too and don’t they say that laughter is the ultimate aphrodisiac?
Have a Deeply Relaxing Date at The Float Spa
Nothing says romance like floating in a pod full of salty water. It sounds odd but these floating experiences are very relaxing and they are doing a deal for Valentine’s day where you and your date can float at the same time, in different pods, obviously, then receive a bottle of prosecco, some organic chocolates and a rose to take home.
Have a Classic Movie Night
Brighton’s Duke of York Cinema is one of the oldest working cinemas in the world. It’s a beautiful building with a great atmosphere inside. Not only does it have a lovely auditorium with comfortable seats, it has a bar that serves alcoholic beverages you can take into the auditorium and it serves cake. What more could you want? They’re having a Valentine’s special screening of Breakfast at Tiffany’s while their sister cinema in the North Laine at the Komedia are showing Dirty Dancing.
Another way to relax with your date, and avoid awkward dinner conversation, is to go pottery painting. There are lots of places you can do this around Brighton and it’s a really nice activity to share. Choose from mugs, plates, figurines and other ceramic items to paint in whichever way you like using a variety of colours. Your creation is then varnished and fired so you can keep it forever (if you want to, of course). Some places also let you try making pottery. We’ve all seen Ghost. Just saying.
Love in a Virtual World
Show your partner you love them by shooting zombies together. The World’s End pub on London Road has virtual reality games where you can have adventures together in virtual worlds. Play with each other or against each other and when you’ve finished, you could always have a play on the huge Scalextric track upstairs.
Whatever you decide to do on Valentine’s Day, we hope you have a good time. If you do feel like popping the question or buying your partner some jewellery or a watch, we would love to help you with that. Call 01273 289 048 to talk to us about engagement rings, jewellery or watches.
