Watches and jewellery have been part of my family’s life for more than a century. Across five generations, skills, knowledge and a love of the craft have been passed down - shaping the personal service we offer at James Ross Jewellers today.
For me, that history is about more than the pieces we sell. It’s about understanding them, caring for them and helping you choose something you’ll enjoy for years to come.
Our story began with my great-great-grandfather, who worked in Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter. My great-grandfather later moved to Brighton, carrying out repairs for jewellery shops around the town.
In 1946, my grandfather established the repair business that continues today. My father, Henry, worked alongside him before eventually taking over, keeping the family’s knowledge and craftsmanship alive for another generation.
My younger brother, Sam, later joined our father. Following Dad’s retirement, Sam now runs the repair business, providing watch and jewellery servicing and repairs for shops across Sussex and beyond.
Growing up around that experience gave me an appreciation for the detail, skill and care behind every piece. Today, sharing that knowledge with my customers is one of the parts of my work I enjoy most.
